The Denver Nuggets took home the NBA Championship last night but Canada, in some ways, won too thanks to the presence of Jamal Murray, who hails from Kitchener, Ontario.
To celebrate, many people took to social media to shout out Murray for his high-intensity efforts during Denver's historic playoff run.
Vince Carter tweeted a single word to highlight Murray's performance.
Cadence Weapon posted a picture of Murray overcome in celebration and highlighted his Canadian background.
NBA Canada's Instagram shared several photos of Murray after the Nuggets won it all.
"Jamal Murray finished with 14 points, 8 assists, 8 rebounds, and 1 steal in Game 5 to clinch the first championship in Nuggets history!" the caption wrote.
During the team's celebration, Jokic took Murray down with him into the pool with a bottle of champagne.
Elsewhere on Twitter, one user called Murray's performance in the playoffs a Canadian Heritage Minute.
In a post-game interview with Arash Madani, Murray shouted out his hometown and reflected on his return to form after tearing his ACL in 2021.
TSN called Murray the "King of the North" after winning the championship.
Murray is in elite company now as he's the fourth player to average over 20 points per game and 10 assists per game during the NBA finals, joining Magic Johnson, LeBron James, and Michael Jordan.
