With Flyleather, Nike says its delivering a more sustainable material that is five times stronger and 40 percent lighter than traditional leather. The shoes are the result of a hydro process that bonds recycled leather and synthetic fibers, producing a material that Nike claims is comparable to real leather.
The first Flyleather release, the Tennis Classic, is already available, with a few other limited edition pairs up for grabs through an online contest.
