Michael Jordan Sued a Supermarket for Copying One of His Sneakers for an Ad and Won

Michael Jordan has reached settlements with supermarket chains Dominick's and Jewel-Osco finally putting an end to lawsuits which were originally filed back in 2009.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Jordan and the chains recently settled out of court with all parties being pleased with the end result. In August of this year, Jordan won an $8.9 million verdict against Dominick's which had used his name and number in a steak promotion and was set to go to court again this December against Jewel-Osco who used his name and an image of the Air Jordan 1 in a congratulatory ad in 2009.

The settlement - terms of which are confidential - puts an end to both cases and according to Estee Portnoy, a longtime advisor to Jordan, the net proceeds from the settlement will go to Chicago-area charities which will be announced before the end of the year.
