If you're a fan of high scoring affairs, the 2014 NBA All-Star Game was for you.
Held in New Orleans for the first time since 2008, the All-Star game featured offense spicier than the Crescent City's famous cuisine. Clippers forward Blake Griffin set the pace early, catching lob after lob as the Western Conference raced out to an 89-76 halftime lead.
The East would creep back into the game in the third quarter behind Carmelo Anthony's hot hand. Anthony knocked down a game record 8 three-pointers en route to a 30-point evening. Ten points were shaved off the West's lead heading into the fourth quarter, which was owned third year star Kyrie Irving.
At the ripe age of 21, Irving displayed maturity and efficiency as he put a team full of the game's biggest stars on his back and charged toward the finish line. Whether he was getting the rim or setting up his teammates, Irving made good play after good play when it mattered most. He scored 15 in the final frame to lift the East to an unlikely 163-155 victory.
With 31 points and 14 rebounds, Irving was named All-Star MVP. Griffin and Kevin Durant both scored 38 points each, while LeBron James added 22 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the East.
