Prior to Derrick Rose's injury in the first round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs, adidas Basketball had their ducks in a row for London 2012. Not only did the brand have an all-new summer model ready to roll out, but they had "Olympic" and "Gold Medal" colorways on deck. Here's a look at the Rose 773 in the latter.
The "Gold Medal" Rose 773 features a navy synthetic upper with a seamlessly bonded SprintWeb toe overlay. Scarlet fills in the open-hole mesh tongue and detail on the laces, while gold works the tongue badge and SprintFrame chassis. Perhaps the shoe's most striking feature is the 3-Stripes wrapped around the heel, which bear a color-shifting iridescent effect. White interrupts at the midsole and sits atop a red miCoach cell and non-marking rubber outsole.
Unlike the other colorways, the "Gold Medal" 773 is packaged in a special white adidas box with gold stripes and branding marks. A bittersweet release for obvious reasons, but a pretty great looking shoe that should have been on the court in London.
You can get the "Gold Medal" Rose 773 from Eastbay today.
