The 10 Most Slept-On Sneakers of 2011

Complex says: In 2011 adidas was backing the biggest star with Derrick Rose, and came correct with a lightweight shoe for his absurdly quick game — the adiZero Crazy Light. The sneaker was stupid light weighing in at 9.8 ounces and actually looked really fresh on the court. With a million LeBron and Kobe playoff colorways down the final stretch of the season, these kicks kind of took a backseat — we're not sure why, we'll glady mess with these.

Complex says: The Jordan 2011 was unveiled with a lot of hype, easily the best looking J to drop since the line stopped using the always-official Roman numerals. The step-up in technology mixed with a well-rounded design had people really looking out for these to drop in Feburary. For whatever reason the shoe didn't push as well as anticipated and they weren't that hard to find for under retail (minus limited release colorways) months after they dropped.

Complex says: The New Balance 1400 running shoe is a perfect sneaker to rock when you're putting in miles or out to dinner with the wifey. When they teamed up with one of the biggest menswear staples for a classic look, you figured these would be major. The spring colorways were fire with options of grey, black, or orange — very clean color schemes. We never really saw these hit the way they were expected and you can still head over to J. Crew's website and grab any color in popular sizes almost a year later.

Complex Says: If you remember basketball from the '90s, you remember the sneakers were just as memorable as any Game Seven. One of the best non-Jordan retros, the Penny 1s made a comeback this past spring in the OG Orlando Magic colorway. The hype for the drop seemed right but they showed up on Nike's site for less than retail and a few spots even re-released them months later after seeing somewhat disappointing numbers.

Complex Says: Originally broke out by Mike during the ’92 All-Star Game, we had to wait 19 years until Jordan Brand decided to bless us with these again. One of the most hyped releases had rappers like Jim Jones and Chris Brown grabbing them early and Pharrell wearing them about every other performance. With all that being said the "Bordeauxs" sat on shelves longer than expected at some sneaker spots and even hit the sales rack — SMH.

Complex says: With so many brands pushing boundaries with neck-breaking designs, sometimes the classics can get lost in the mix. The Puma Clyde is a must for any sneaker collection and with numerous releases marketed very well by Puma (including the UNDFTD collabs) it seemed like the Clydes didn't get the type of love they deserved in 2011.

Complex Says: You might remember these from Kobe Bryant as his first signature shoe with the Three Stripes. Since KB8 left the company, so did the name. The design remained the same and was a favorite amongst adidas NCAA programs and took over on the court during March Madness but we didn't see these on people feet outside of adidas sponsorships as much. The red and black "Derrick Rose" colorup was a favorite.

Complex says: Such a standout sneaker compared to other releases last year, the Packer x Reebok Court Victory Pump played out well with the U.S. Open. The completely reflective upper, shout out to Queens, and the nostalgic Pump made this one of the more unique concepts but they never received the type of recognition they were due.

Complex says: The Night and Day Pack put on by HAL and NB is undeniably one of the best-designed sneakers of 2011. The use of colors and material is second to none, and even though it was a rather limited drop the shoe was snubbed from a few of the "best ofs" for 2011.

Complex Says: Nike has changed the running game with its various styles of Lunar cushioning. This past year it dropped a Tier Zero camouflage sneaker that blurred the line of performance and style perfectly. The All-Camo-Everything runner was designed perfectly and even though it was more of a limited release they were almost half-off on various websites during the fall.
