Michael Rises Above Hawks (January 10, 1989)
Jordan's 48 points helped the Bulls avoid defeat as they squeezed out a 104-101 win over the Hawks after being down 14 in the fourth quarter.
Michael Runs Over the Bucks (February 16, 1989)
Jordan went for 50 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists versus Milwaukee, turning his opponents from Bucks into deer caught in headlights. Jordan contributed 26 points in the fourth quarter alone, including a game-winning shot just before the buzzer.
You Can't But Michael Can (1988-89 Campaign)
By this point in their careers, Michael and Mars had become buddies. The two star in this Air Jordan IV commercial, a spot that drove home what millions already knew: You can't do this MJ stuff. You can rock his kicks, though, and the Air Jordan IVs were (and still are) hot fire.
Michael Rallies Bulls to Victory (May 21, 1989)
The Pistons were leading Chicago by 14 with 8 minutes remaining in the game. Fearing a loss and the possibility that the Bulls would go down 2-1 in the series, Michael put his team on his back and overcame Detroit
Michael versus Magic (March 21, 1989)
In this marquee matchup, the Bulls played the the Lakers in L.A., putting on a show versus the defending champions. For this game, MJ played point guard to go head-to-head against Magic Johnson. On this night, Michael outshined Magic. MJ dished out 16 assists to Magic
The Year of the Triple-Double (1988-89 Season)
Michael Jordan recorded 15 triple-doubles during this season, at one point posting 10 in 11 games and seven in a row. INSANITY! He would finish the season with 15 triple-dubs, three short of Magic Johnson
Jordan Shuts Up Rick Pitino (May 14, 1989)
The Bulls were up 2-1 in the Conference Semifinals, playing the second of back-to-back games at home. The story goes that Jordan was in the locker room getting treatment for a groin injury when he heard Knicks coach Rick Pitino on television suggesting that Jordan might be faking. Jordan went for 47 points and 11 rebounds, with 18 in the fourth quarter. Pitino was left with nothing more to say.
Michael Breaks Cleveland's Heart (May 7, 1989)
In an all-too-familiar scenario to Cavs fans, Michael Jordan ripped the heart out of the city with another remarkable playoff performance. The Cavaliers were leading by 1 with a few seconds left, but Mike's double-pump 15-footer over Craig Ehlo helped the Bulls steal a Game 5 victory from the jaws of defeat, leading the Bulls to the Eastern Conference Semifinals. One of MJ's most iconic shots.
