The New York City Marathon may be in jeopardy due to the city-wide mess left behind by Hurricane Sandy, however that hasn’t stopped Asics (who happens to be the official sponsor of the race) from rolling out a collection of running footwear inspired by one of the most prestigious marathons in the world.

Along with the GEL-Kayano 19 NYC, a limited edition of the popular GT-2000 will be available to runners who attend the Marathon Expo later this week (granted it doesn’t get postponed). The sneaker that has won 12 Runner’s World awards in 14 years has been given a colorway inspired by the Big Apple, and has been re-engineered and revamped to even further greatness.

The limited edition collection will also be available at selected running specialty stores around NYC. For a complete list of the retailers check out Asics.

Keep it locked to Sneaker Report for continuing marathon coverage.
