Anyone who’s been on TikTok recently will have seen video after video of people getting sturdy.

The dance trend, which requires impressive footwork and athleticism, is considered to be an evolution of the “Woo Walk”, which was popularised by the late Pop Smoke. It’s arguably another example of the UK/US crossover as the drill-inspired dance has found popularity on both sides of the pond with dancers getting sturdy to tracks from London and New York City alike.

Put together by the founder of Tax3, James Toppin, and UK influencer Jordan Green, new YouTube show Sturdy Off sees some of the UK’s sturdiest dancers pitted against each other to see who can take home the Sturdy Belt and a cash prize.

The first episode makes for an enjoyable watch as the dancers get to work over a variety of hard-hitting New York drill instrumentals, with some entertaining drama over unpopular decisions thrown into the mix.
