Being name-dropped by The Weeknd was both a “crazy” and confusing experience for Neve Campbell, as she initially had no idea who the artist was.

During a recent episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden, the titular host told Campbell she was “having a moment,” thanks to the massive success of the new Scream film as well as getting name-checked in The Weeknd’s Dawn FM album: “My new girl, she a movie star/I loved her right, make her scream like Neve Campbell,” he sings in “Here We Go… Again,” featuring Tyler, the Creator.

The 48-year-old actress told Corden that the shout-out was “pretty crazy,” but admitted she wasn’t immediately familiar with The Weeknd.

“Well, at first, my publicist told me and she was like, ‘The Weeknd.’ I said, ‘Wait, which weekend, last weekend?’” she recalled. “I had no idea what she was talking about. And then I realized, ‘Oh, the guy who played at the Super Bowl? That guy!’ Fellow Canadian.”

Corden chimed in: “I can only think he’ll be really disappointed if he knows that you described him as the guy from the Super Bowl, given he’s, arguably, one of the biggest and best-selling artists of his generation.”

“I know, I know! I’m just so bad with pop culture,” Campbell said with a laugh. “[He’s] a very talented guy.”

Campbell was also asked about The Weeknd’s line during an appearance on Access Hollywood earlier this month. She told Zuri Hall she was informed about the reference shortly before the interview, but said she hadn’t heard the lyrics.

“I just heard that about an hour ago,” she said. “Crazy. Pretty, pretty surreal … I haven’t heard—it hasn’t come out yet, right? Or it has? I don’t know.”

Campbell reprised her role as Sidney Prescott for the fifth installment of Scream, which hit theaters last week. The horror flick pulled in $35 million at the box office during its opening weekend, taking the top spot from Spider-Man: No Way Home.
