This could be one of HBO's most promising comedies this year. According to DeadlineThe Misadventures Of Awkward Black Girl webseries creator Issa Rae is teaming up with The Office producer and The Bernie Mac Show creator Larry Wilmore for a new HBO comedy series—and, even better, Rae is set to star as well as co-write.

The series, which doesn't have a title yet, is described as focusing "on the awkward experiences and racy tribulations of a modern day African-American woman." It sounds like basically The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl written for television, which is good since we already know for sure Rae writes the subject well.

With the addition to this new HBO series, Rae is set to have an extremely busy year: She's working with Grey's Anatomy and Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes to develop another series, she's one of five new hosts on ASPiRE TV's talk show, Exhale, she'll be playing Nina Simone in a film about the life of Lorraine Hansberry, she's writing a collection of personal essays for a book that'll be published through HarperCollins, and she's producing a new series for the YouTube channel Alright TV. Amongst other things. Basically, you should all remember her name, because you'll be seeing a lot of her very soon.
