Noah 40 Shebib paid tribute to his late father, filmmaker Donald Shebib, on Instagram following his passing on Nov. 5.

"I will always miss you my good friend," 40 wrote. "Until I see you again. Rest in Paradise."

40's post includes various pictures of him with his father at different points in his life.

In a separate post, 40 honoured his father for his filmmaking skills.

"Donald Shebib. The legendary Canadian Filmmaker. You deserve all your flowers. ♥️💐," he wrote.

Drake also paid tribute to the filmmaker, saying in an Instagram story: "Don Shebib gave me one of my best friends in the world and we were able to build something that changed out lives and our city forever.

"Long love the Don we will continue in your honour for as long as they allow us."

Drake posted alongside the heartfelt message a photo of the two hugging.

Donald Shebib was an instrumental piece in the development of English-Canadian cinema in the 1970s.

His first film from the decade Goin' Down the Road has been recognized as one of the best Canadian films of all time.

"Nobody believed in the film, nobody. Then when the reaction to it was good, I was overwhelmed by it," Shebib said to CBC in 2011.

Though Shebib's output declined in the 1990s and 2000s, he continued to release projects including a sequel to Goin' Down the Road titled Down the Road Again in 2011 and his final feature Nightalk in 2022.
