The NYPD's search for a suspect who attacked an MTA employee at a Bronx subway station last week has ended now that a member of the police department has reportedly turned himself in.

According to CBS New York, an off-duty officer "bear-hugged" and choked the woman after she tried to take his cell phone on the East Tremont Avenue station's D train platform on Dec. 23. A source told the New York Post that the officer directed his frustration about the late-night service at the 28-year-old.

The Post adds that a fellow MTA employee separated the two before the man fled. CBS New York reports that the officer turned himself in at Harlem's 25th Precinct after recognizing himself on surveillance video released by police.

Authorities told the news outlet that the confrontation escalated when the woman cursed at the officer after being asked a question, then tried to take his phone when he attempted to photograph her. The woman was hospitalized with minor injuries to her back, neck, and head.

At the moment, no charges have been filed.
