A WPIX segment on how protests of a Staten Island Grand Jury's decision not to charge the NYPD officer involved in Eric Garner's death interrupted the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was interrupted by a remarkably tasteless display. Garner, 43, died after being fatally choked by officer Daniel Pantaleo in July.
According to the New York Daily News, reporter Allison Kaden was in the midst of a broadcast when a man and woman entered the frame behind her. The man then began to mimic a chokehold on the woman, who mockingly raised her hands in the air similar to how Garner did before collapsing.
What better stage than television to show your true colors?
