Drive director, Nicolas Winding Refn, is in talks with Sony about helming the studio’s upcoming horror movie, The Bringing, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The script for the movie was written by Brandon and Phillip Murphy, and it will be produced by Matt Tolmach and Daniela Cristina Cretu.
The plot of the movie is based on the strange real-life occurrences at the Cecil Hotel in L.A. The hotel is known for its multiple suicides and criminal behavior, with the latest one being the death of 21-year-old Elisa Lam. Lam was found dead in the water tank on the hotel roof with no explanation. In the moments before her death, Lam was shown acting erratically by an elevator surveillance camera.
According to the site, the script follows a man who is investigating the Lam case, but it’s not known whether or not it will touch on any of the other strange cases as well.
