To those of you who are wondering if Apple's is ever going to fix their iPhone battery life, it looks like the company is trying to make moves to do just that.
Apple is in talks to purchase a 55-percent stake in the Japanese chipmaker Renesas SP Drivers, which right now is jointly owned by Sharp and Powerchip. By purchasing a portion of the company, Apple believes that they'll be able to make sharper screens and increase the iPhone's battery life. The deal will reportedly cost $479 million, and will be completed by the summer. No word yet if these benefits will affect this year's class of iPhones, or next year's.
Apple is reportedly readying up 4.7- and 5.7-inch iPhone models for release this fall, although there has been word that the 5.7 model could be delayed until next year.
