Neil deGrasse Tyson is the consummate Daily Show guest. Every time he sits across the desk from Jon Stewart we're guaranteed to learn something about science with an entertaining and blunt explanation. Last night was no different, as our boy NdT spoke about our efforts to colonize Mars and the rising popularity of science.
Stewart asked Tyson what has him most excited about science today, and he said it's the public's enthusiasm for the field. The root of this, he says, is the geekosphere. He explained that geeks have gained a greater cultural cachet since the jocks realized they need them to fix their computers. "We only enter the future on the intellectual capital brought to this world by the geekosphere," he said.
