Every month, Rookie has a segment called “Ask a Grown Man (or Woman),” in which a celebrity imparts some words of wisdom to viewers of their video blog. Stephen Colbert was the guest this month, and because he is good at pretty much everything, Colbert had some amazing advice to dispense.

In a rare look at Colbert out of character, he answers questions from teenage girls about misogyny (confront people about it), talking to your dad about sleeping over at your boyfriend’s house (try to understand his perspective, and appreciate/listen to his advice), and honesty (“don’t waste your time with someone who lies to you”).

However, he saves his best answer for a question about how to tell when someone likes you:

“People show they like you in all kinds of different ways,” he said, “but some basic ones are they want to hear your stories, they care how you feel, they want to make your day better, they want to listen to your problems, they reach out to you.

If your happiness is more important than their happiness, or if they’re first concerned about what’s going on in your life than in their life, then that’s a really good sign.”

Is it cool with you, Stephen, if we send you our life questions too? Please?
