Multiple Arrests as Protests in Ferguson Shut Down Highway

A planned protest on Interstate 70 in Ferguson, Mo. is going on as planned, and as expected police have begun arresting those who refuse to comply.

The AP is reporting that at least seven protestors have been cuffed by police. The plan has always been for the group to block onramps to the very busy Interstate 70, with the stated goal of bringing traffic to a complete standstill.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has promised to “enforce the law and ensure public safety,” leading them to arrest those blocking the roadway. Here’s a look at the scene unfolding:

While much of the national attention shined on Ferguson following the shooting death of black teenager Michael Brown by white police officer Darren Wilson has subsided, clearly there is still a lot of tension on the streets and in the community.
