HBO's breakout hit "True Detective" will come to a close tonight.

Though HBO has yet to announce the renewal of the series, "True Detective" creator Nic Pizzolatto has confirmed that the Rust Cohle and Marty Hart, played by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, saga will end with season one. Season two will introduce a whole new plot with new characters.

"True Detective" follows the lives of two mismatched detectives who get partnered up to solve the disturbing murders performed by a serial killer dubbed The Yellow King. Both Cohle and Hart grapple with their own deep rooted issues while trying to uncover the mystery behind cruel and unusual murders centered in Louisiana. 

McConaughey and Harrelson have received critical acclaim for their work on the show. Both actors execute transformative performances that have viewers aching to see the fate of the two partners while bracing themselves as they discover the truth behind The Yellow King.
