Last night, director Peter Jackson posted a note on his Facebook page entitled "48 Frames Per Second," explaining why he's shooting at twice the industry standard of 24 fps for his upcoming film The Hobbit.

Part One of The Hobbit is scheduled for release on December 19, 2012.
