As if you need more proof that Jennifer Lawrence owns the world: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1 made $275 million dollars globally in its opening weekend. It won this week's box office by miles, according to the studios' Sunday reports.
Mockingjay brought in $123 million in North America, and $152 million in the rest of the world. That means that the movie has already paid for itself, plus the upcoming Mockingjay-Part 2. Both movies cost a reported total of $250 million to make. That also make it officially the top box-office opening of the year.
Anyone still wondering why they split the final book in the trilogy into two movies?
Big Hero 6 was No. 2 this week with $20.1 million, Interstellar was third with $15.1 million and Dumb and Dumber To dropped from first to fourth, pulling in $13.8 in its second week.
