Samsung’s Design in Mind Artisans Explain Their Creative Processes

Samsung and Sotheby's come together to support young designers with Design in Mind charity auction.

Samsung believes that good design can improve the world. That’s why the company collaborated with Sotheby’s auction house to create its Design in Mind program, which helps a select group of rising designers and artists create works that will be sold for charity, while also highlighting the creative capabilities of its new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G. For the program, Samsung commissioned new works from painter and designer Luisa Salas, design incubator Lichen, and Maggie Holladay, designer and proprietor of Claude Home. The paintings and furniture created by these artists will fund charities including the International Rescue Committee, the Black Interior Designers Network, and The Loveland Foundation. Throughout the program, each artisan gave Complex exclusive access to their workspaces, allowing us to see firsthand their creative processes and to record their thoughts on inspiration, productivity, and improving the world. Check out the video above to hear what Luisa, Lichen, and Maggie have to say and read our in-depth interviews with each artisan to find out more about Design in Mind here. And be sure to check out the live auction and bid now on sothebys.com.
