One of the most iconic British dramas to grace the small screen, This Is England has fully earned its classic status. But just when we thought the series was laid to rest, creator, writer and director of the show, Shane Meadows has said that he wants to return to his acclaimed creation, setting it around the turn of the millennium.

This Is England started out as a film in 2006, before eventually evolving into a TV series in 2010 for Channel 4 called This Is England '86. If this new series comes to light, it will be the third time Meadows has returned, with two previous series' being set in 1988 and 1990.

During a YouTube discussion with Andrew Shim, Meadows said: "I don't know when but I've got This Is England '00 in my head, the millennium one, because I sort of thought it would be nice, because when did we shoot the last one? Was it 2015, 2016? So, you're obviously five years away and I don't massively want to copy the film ideas, but if I went back, I'd love to do a millennium one."
