Recent Hot Onesguest Paul Rudd stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live Thursday night for a discussion spanning everything from Ant-Man to the upcoming Ghostbusters continuation.
Around the 5:50 mark in the video above, Rudd was predictably asked to elaborate on matters of story and casting regarding the new Ghostbusters entry, in which he stars alongside Carrie Coon and Finn Wolfhard.
"Oh man, who you gonna call?" Rudd said, only to then be asked about the status of the shoot.
"I just finished, like, about two weeks ago," he said. "I'll tell you one thing that's pretty great because I think fans of the original will like the film. It exists in the world [of the original Ghostbusters]. You know that movie was directed by Ivan Reitman, as many people know. This film was written and directed by Jason Reitman, who's a great filmmaker in his own right and now it's kind of like it's the family business. It's kind of, there's something special about that."
Asked about the possibility of seeing him onscreen with original stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson, Rudd did the usual No Confirmation response that's required for films of this size.
"Isn't it terrible that now we've come to this place where we're talking about movies but we can't talk about anything?" he joked. "Now the only thing I can tell you about Ghostbusters is that it's directed by Jason Reitman."
Rudd was confirmed to have joined Reitman's Ghostbusters sequel back in June, with reports at the time describing his character only as "a teacher." The movie, which is believed to be a direct sequel to the original franchise (and the fourth film in the series overall), arrives July 10th of next year.
Rudd is also on a new Netflix series titled Living With Yourself. Rudd told Kimmel that shooting the opening scene, which sees one of Rudd's characters crawling from a grave with plastic over his head, was "horrible" and required the use of a snorkel-like device.
