Comedy Central 'South Side' Stars Talk Repping Chicago at ComplexCon

Last week, Comedy Central's hit new series South Side debuted to record premiere numbers. The series, which is the brainchild of writers Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin (who both worked on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon in the past), is about a pair of friends who work at a Rent-A-Center-like store called Rent-T-Own, in the South Side of Chicago. The series, which features local talent both behind and in front of the camera, is a hilarious look at not just that work environment, but digs deep into what life is like in the South Side of Chicago.

Since ComplexCon made its debut in Chicago earlier this month, it made sense that the cast—Riddle and Salahuddin were joined by Sultan Salahuddin and Chandra Russell—would stop buy the Rent-T-Own installation to speak to Complex News about the series.

Russell mentioned that with the city of Chicago being sensitive about how it's been portrayed in the past, it was extremely important for this series to be their "love letter" to the city of Chicago. "We had to get it right," she says, "everything had to be on point." The cast also talks their favorite episodes, playing 2K, and much more.

New episodes of South Side hits Comedy Central on Wednesday nights at 10:30PM ET. Check out the full interview up above.
