Comedian and actor Hannibal Buress was arrested in Miami Saturday night in a bizarre encounter with two policemen that was at least partially captured on video. The Miami Police Department’s official position on the matter is that Buress was detained for “disorderly intoxication” as you can see from the tweet below.
Hello Billy, Mr. Buress was arrested for disorderly intoxication, on December 9, 2017, at approximately 10:30 p.m.— Miami PD (@MiamiPD) December 10, 2017
At the eight-second mark in the video above, Buress can be heard demanding the officers tell him why he’s being detained. One officer appears to tell him he’s being charged with trespassing, which doesn’t match the Miami Police Department’s official charge on the arrest record.
One bystander can be heard questioning the somewhat flimsy charge.
“Who’s pressing charges on the trespass?” the bystander asks. “What property was he trespassing on?”
These were both relevant questions that never seemed to get answered during the encounter. No matter, Buress was gonna get those jokes off—even if he did so while in handcuffs.
“Y’all goofy as fuck,” Buress told one arresting officer. “Y’all know y’all goofy as fuck, right?”
One officer then told Buress he was making the process harder, while the other officer appeared to walk away in frustration.
“No, you’re making it harder,” Buress said. “He’s just salty because I roasted his ass. You don’t have probable cause for anything, and you’re looking hella stupid right now.”
It didn’t take long for Buress’ Twitter mentions to light up.

Eventually Buress was physically pushed inside the patrol unit, and that’s about as physical as things got. According to TMZ, Buress was released at approximately 6:00 a.m. Sunday after posting a $500 bond.
