Larry David is hosting SNL, and he kicked things off with a monologue that addressed various current events such as Harvey Weinstein, pointing out a disturbing pattern to the audience that a lot of sexual predators are Jewish.

Continuing in the same line of thinking, David, who is Jewish, made some questionable jokes about the Holocaust and hitting on girls in the concentration camp during World War II. LD really knows how to take it there.

Larry David has been a guest on SNL several times in the past. During the election season last year, he had one of the most memorable performances with his uncanny impersonation of Bernie Sanders. But David has only hosted SNL once before, in February 2016, when David actually got the real-life Bernie Sanders to make an illustrious appearance.

In the run up to tonight's performance, David and Miley Cyrus, who was the musical guest, had been releasing promos for the show.

Even during these commercials, David is, as ever, the quintessential curmudgeonly old man we’ve all come to know so well.

This second promo is one of the most on-brand things David has done in years. In fact, it feels exactly like a scene right out of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Speaking of Curb Your Enthusiasm, the much-anticipated ninth season premiered last month and is currently airing on Sundays on HBO. Fans had to wait six years for the show to come back after the last season, but it seems like they won’t have to wait as long for more Curb after the current season ends. Maybe David is taking a liking to being in the spotlight again?
