Here's a bloody Valentine for you: Guillermo Del Toro, director of Pacific Rim, Hellboy and Pan's Labyrinth, finally gets to go R-rated at a major Hollywood studio with an original tale of horror. Crimson Peak is a Victorian-age gothic romance starring Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Charlie Hunnam, and Mia Wasikowska.
Although Peak looks to be more classical than del Toro's usual fare, the trailer ends with a ghost emerging from the floorboards, long black fingers grabbing a startled Wasikowska, and a creepy voice saying "beware of Crimson Peak." (Is that like earning red wings?) Here's the official synopsis:
In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is scrimwept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers.
Remember this day: Crimson Peak will be released on October 16, 2015.
