A tragic accident today on set of Martin Scorsese's Silence resulted in the death of a contractor and injuries to two other workers. Pre-production was underway in Taiwan for the film starring Liam Neeson, Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver.
According to a spokesperson for the film, a piece of structure already deemed unsafe was placed on a back lot. A third-party contractor was hired to reinforce the structure and make it safe for production. During the repairs a ceiling collapsed, killing one employee and injuring two others. "Everyone is in shock and sorrow and expresses their deepest concern and sympathy to the families of the individual who died and those who were injured," the spokesperson added.
We'll update when more details have surfaced.
