Police in New Jersey say a drunk driver hit a pedestrian, then drove for more than a mile with the victim lodged in the windshield of his car.

The Smoking Gun reports that 33-year-old Marcos Ortega hit 61-year-old Kenneth Moeller on Monday evening as he veered onto the shoulder along Route 9 in Ocean Township, N.J. According to the Ocean County Police Department, Ortega proceeded to travel about 1.5 miles with Moeller stuck in his windshield, critically injured.

When police received a report about someone driving erratically, they located a car with someone "halfway through the vehicle's windshield." Moeller was eventually removed and hospitalized in critical condition. Meanwhile, Ortega was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and drunk driving.
