A police officer in Texas has been charged for allegedly shooting a woman because she honked her horn at him.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Harris County Precinct 6 Reserve Deputy Constable Kenneth Caplan was arrested on Wednesday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for opening fire at the woman on Nov. 11.

The unidentified 20-year-old said that she was traveling on the 610 South Loop between Buffalo Speedway in Southwest Houston when she was cut off by Caplan. When she honked her horn at him and attempted to pass him, she claims he began shooting after rolling his window down and instructing his passenger to lean back in her seat.

KPRC reports that the bullet traveled through the woman's drivers side window, grazing her head. She was treated for her injuries at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

"I honestly got a taste of death," she told KPRC.

In a statement, Precinct 6 denounced Caplan's actions:

Kenneth Caplan was not on duty at the time of the incident in which he was involved nor was he displaying any article connecting him to the Harris County Constable's Office - Precinct 6. The Harris County Constable's Office - Precinct 6 neither condones nor tolerates the actions taken by Kenneth Caplan that connected him to this incident, and the necessary measures were taken to collect his credentials and remove him from our status.
