Perhaps the most tantalizing reveal at yesterday’s big Marvel press event was a teaser (of sorts) for Avengers: Infinity War, which hits theaters in the summer of 2018 and 2019. Yeah, Marvel definitely has a whole a bunch of planners.
Fans were delighted to see the above videos, in which we get our first glimpse at uber-villain Thanos in possession of the titular Infinity Gauntlet. It’s the very definition of a tease, and a pretty good one at that.
But let’s talk about the Gauntlet. Being totally honest, can’t Marvel do a bit better here? The budget of the original Avengers was $220 million; by the time they get around to making this one, we’re probably looking at $300 million plus. And what do they do for their universe-destroying super weapon? Take a beer fist glove, spray paint it gold, and bedazzle it with a few big gems and a tap light.
Come on, Marvel. Do better.
