Comedian Brooks Wheelan has been fired from Saturday Night Live after just one season.

Wheelan took to Twitter to make the announcement with this light-hearted tweet:

Had a blast and loved every second of it. I'm totally honored to be able to make this next joke... FIRED FROM NEW YORK IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT!

Wheelan was one of many to join the 39th season of SNL with new members that included: Beck Bennett, Kyle Mooney, John Milhiser, Noel Wells, Mike O'Brien, and Sasheer Zamata, who was added after the cast’s racial diversity was called into question.

This season saw exits from Seth Meyers who left SNL for the hosting gig at Late Night and Nasim Pedrad, who is expected to leave to star in the upcoming sitcom Mulaney opposite John Mulaney.

Sources close to SNL confirm the news. Additional casting decisions will be made come August.
