Tracy Morgan remains in critical condition after a crash that killed one person and left several others critically injured in New Jersey early Saturday morning. The comedian underwent surgery on a broken leg and will remain hospitalized for several weeks, according to a publicist.

The rep released the following statement this afternoon with an optimistic update on Morgan's condition:

"While Tracy remains in critical condition, he has been more responsive today, which is an incredibly encouraging sign. He sustained a number of injuries including a broken leg, a broken femur, a broken nose and several broken ribs. He had surgery earlier today on his leg. We expect him to remin in the hospital for several weeks. His family is tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans."

A truck driver who dozed off and caused the crash with the limousine bus Morgan was a passenger in was charged with death by auto Saturday, but has since posted $50,000 bail and been released, CNN reported.

Two others, 36-year-old Jeffrey Millea, of Shelton, Connecticut, and 43-year-old comedian Ardie Fuqua Jr., of Jersey City, remain in critical condition. Comedian James "Jimmy Mack" McNair was killed in the crash.
