Wet Hot American Summer, a 2001 cult hit that featured a cavalcade of stars that included Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Molly Shannon, Michael Showalter, Michael Ian Black, Elizabeth Banks, Janeane Garofalo, Joe Lo Truglio, David Hyde Pierce, and Ken Marino, may be getting the ultra-popular “prequel treatment” via Netflix.

Variety is reporting that the movie may be re-envisioned in a 10 episode prequel to the film, and would feature all of the original cast.

Of course, they’re all ostensibly playing teenage camp counselors and are actually in their 40s in real life. But really, that just feeds into the wackiness upon which the entire film is based, and would not be much of a problem for the film’s diehard fans.

While Netflix has declined comment, the Arrested Development reunion would suggest that a new series is entirely possible, even with many of the stars having conflicting schedules.

Here’s hoping we all get to return to Camp Firewood in the very near future.
