What we call "shooting stars" are meteorites that burn up while passing through Earth's atmosphere, ending their journey through space in a blaze of glory.
One Norwegian skydiver happened to catch one of these meteorites falling to Earth during the day — so dangerously close to him that it almost hit his parachute. Check it out at around the 25-second mark in the video above.
This may be the first time the meteorite has been filmed while in the air after the light it produces while going through the atmosphere has been extinguished. Science, fuck yeah.
