Authorities in Los Angeles say someone entered a police station and opened fire, injuring an officer.

According to the New York Daily News, Officer Sara Faden says the suspect walked into the LAPD's West Traffic Division station around 8 p.m. last night and randomly started shooting. A seven-year veteran of the police force who happened to be working the desk was hit once in the shoulder, but returned fire, striking the suspect at least once. LAPD Chief Charlie Beck says the officer's actions saved not only his own life, but his partner's as well.

Both the officer and the shooter were hospitalized, and the LAPD still has yet to identify a motive for the incident.
