Last afternoon the news broke that David Letterman would retire as the host of Late Show. Since all the late night talks shows are filmed hours in advance (SORCERY!) we heard about it before it aired and so did Seth Meyers. Having heard the news not too long before his taping, Letterman's retirement was fresh on his mind. So, during Late Night With Seth Meyers, he paid a little tribute to Letterman, saying: "If it wasn't for David Letterman, I wouldn't be here."

Interesting to think that, in a generation that is pre-Carson, it's safe to say Letterman might go down as the GOAT.
