An Arizona woman tried to kill her husband by injecting feces into his IV drip.

According to the New York Post, Rosemary Vogel's husband was recovering from heart surgery at Phoenix's Chandler Regional Medical Centre. Hospital staff found the 65-year-old Vogel tampering with her 66-year-old husband's IV line after an alarm went off. A nurse yanked it from the man's arm after spotting a brown substance inside of it.

Vogel reportedly tried to drain the substance into a wastebasket, which the nurse also prevented. During a search, three syringes were found inside of Vogel's purse. According to Chandler Police Sergeant Joe Favazzo, two were filled with fluid, the third with waste. Tests determined that the substance Vogel placed in her husband's IV line was feces.

Vogel, who was charged with attempted murder and vulnerable adult abuse, is being held on $100,000 bond. Her husband is expected to survive.
