Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has already conquered the wrestling world and the big screen over the last decade, and now it looks like he’s setting his sights directly on cable. According to Variety, HBO has picked up a new half-hour series from producers Johnson and Mark Wahlberg, titled Ballers. In addition to producing, Johnson will also star in the series. This show will mark his television debut outside of Monday Night RAW.

In the show, “Johnson will play a retired athlete, while other characters in Ballers include a highly spiritual pro athlete, financial adviser, sports agent, ESPN sideline reporter and ex-wife of a pro football player,” according to the site.

Steve Levinson, Wahlberg’s manager, wrote the pilot for Ballers. There is no word yet on the tone of the show or when it will begin filming. With starring roles in Ballers, Fast Seven, and potentially Batman/Superman, The Rock will be a busy man over the next two years.
