Respawn Entertainment, the developers of the upcoming mech multiplayer-only game Titanfall, has revealed that the max player count will be six-versus-six. The news was confirmed by Respawn boss Vince Zampella on Twitter.

@MrClutch514 @Respawn 6v6 is max player count. Turned out to be the best balance with ai for us.

With next gen systems and PCs arguably able to load up to 64 players or more into a match many gamers assumed that Titanfall's battles would be just as massive. But Respawn is focused on keeping the game as fun as possible. While there will be AI players in the game and each human player will have a Titan that they can either pilot or set into guard of follow mode, making it a possible of 24 player-controlled units on the battlefield Respawn isn't looking to max out the servers.

Respawn seems most concerned with making the game as good as possible and bucking trends in upscaling for the sake of it. Possibly learning some of the hard lessons games like Battlefield 4 are currently experiencing with massive player counts causing buggy and desynchronizing games.

Titanfall is due out for PC, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on March 11, 2014.
