Drinking and driving is always the wrong decision. Though many countries will permit you to drive with modest amounts of alcohol in your system, the punishments you'll face if you're caught vary. This infographic shows global DUI levels, as well as the most notable punishments from selected countries, some of which are bizarre.

For example, in Malaysia, your spouse is also sent to jail if you're busted for driving under the influence. In Australia, offenders are subject to public shaming in newspapers, which isn't that bad compared to being flogged in the United Arab Emirates. Call it tough love. The infographic also dispels rumors, so don't worry about being executed by a firing squad if you get a DUI in El Salvador.

This is valuable information, especially for frequent travelers.
