When something is so rare, so extremely limited that you can hardly find it, the obvious thing to do is steal it when you finally come across it, right? This must've been the logic of whoever stole $26,000 worth of bourbon from the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Ky.

Just 7,000 cases of Old Rip Van Winkle are made annually, so someone said "fuck it" and stole 195 cases of 20-year-old Pappy Van Winkle and nine cases of 13-year-old Van Winkle Family Reserve Eye. While that accounts for a retail value of $26,000, it's apparently worth way more on the street. The Louisville Courier says that bottles can be sold for as much as $400 underground, meaning the bourbon thieves could end up with nearly $80,000.

For the record, stealing something because it's rare is not socially acceptable.
