Gilmore Girls alum Alexis Bledel has scored the lead role in a new FOX comedy called Friends & Family. It's based on the UK's Gavin & Stacey. NBC tried to remake the show in 2008 with the original British creators (James Cordon and Ruth Jones) as executive producers, but nothing came of it. ABC ordered a pilot in 2009 but a year later it had been cancelled.

Cordon and Jones are among several executive producers for the FOX pilot, but it looks like this one will be going ahead as planned. Bledel played the fast-talking Rory Gilmore for seven years and also starred in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants with Blake Lively.

She made a splash more recently on Mad Men as a sad housewife who has an affair with Pete (Vincent Kartheiser)—you might remember the scene where he dreams she comes to visit him at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce.

Oh yeahhh. Anyway, Bledel will star in Friends & Family opposite Jason Ritter (Parenthood, Joan of Arcardia) as a couple who "try to maintain their relationship while combining their polarizing families' lives." Aren't we all?
