One of the simplest additions to iOS 6, the iPad's Clock app, has cost Apple millions.

Apple was accused of copying the design for the clock featured in the iPad version of iOS 6 from Switzerland’s Federal Railways service (SBB). The original clock was designed by SBB employee, Hans Hilfiker in 1944 and is consider a symbol, not only for the company, but for the country as well.

Unlike the numerous drawn out patent trials the company is currently involved in, Apple has decided to license the clock design before the threats of legal action became a reality. According to local Swiss publication Tages-Anzeiger, Apple dished out $21 million to license the clock.

Time is money, especially when your company has over $100 billion in cash.
