42-year-old Joseph Kernizan killed his ex-girlfriend, 38-year-old Tracy Bennett, and her new boyfriend Wayne Hamilton in the parking lot of a Bronx motel early Saturday morning. According to witnesses, Bennett and Hamilton begged for their lives before Kernizan shot them in front of the Holiday Motel. Carolina Manzano, a neighbor, said that she saw Kernizan lurking around, and added that he was "always acting suspicious."
The 50-year-old Hamilton was a reggae musician from Milwaukee who performed under the name Captain Barkey. He was also married. Manzano said that police made frequent trips to the home that Kernizan and Bennett shared because they fought often. Prior to her murder, Bennett had obtained a restraining order against Kernizan, who is still at large.
