Facebook Begins Letting Some Users Pay To Promote Status Updates

You, too may soon be able to bomb your friends with status updates that linger at the top of their newsfeeds. Facebook has begun rolling out a feature called "Promoted Posts," which will let regular users pay to have their status updates displayed more prominently just like brands do.

The service is in a limited test run and doesn't have a set price attached to it, but it's said to cost about $7 per post. Facebook users would get the option to promote a post in a link just below it next to the "Like," "Comment" and "Share" buttons.

In the future, all the social media attention your heart desires can be yours for a small fee.
