As we do more and more on our smartphones, inevitably the need for bigger screens will arise. But since we don’t want bigger phones, device makers are stuck in a rough spot. Microsoft might have a solution, though: a detachable second screen, giving users the ability of dual-screen navigation.
As the blueprint above demonstrates, Microsoft’s design calls for magnetic strips aligned edge-to-edge along the side of the two displays. They filed the patent back in February, so it’s anyone’s guess as to when, if ever, we’ll see this technology.
