Here at Complex, we’ve already written at length about the utter uselessness and vacuousness of Pinterest. But we’ll remind you again that it’s simply a site where users share steal others' images, which Tumblr already revolutionized.

And yet, despite itself, it still manages to garner 18 million unique visitors at an incredible rate of growth per month. So, with all that personal information to leverage, Pinterest has gone out and hired Tim Kendall, Facebook’s director of monetization from 2006 to 2010. Simply put, he took Facebook from bedroom startup to a $100 billion IPO--he’s credited with writing Facebook’s monetization strategy and starting the notion of “sponsored stories” on Facebook. And he picked Pinterest ahead of offers from Twitter and Zynga.
